THEORIES OF ARCHITECTURE DESIGN
BUILDING AND BODY’S RELATIONSHIP
Building and Body, what you will think of when someone mention building and body, probably some literal answer will be like body must follow the building, but there is more than that of building and body. Human are diverse so does how we see the relationship between building and body, it could be abstraction of body to building, direct responses to body or others.

PROLOGUE
The relationship between body and building has no certain answer for it, it depends all on a person’s perspective. The first contemporary building I choose Frank Gehry’s Walt Disney Concert Hall but first I will talk more about Frank Gehry’s style. Although his style is a destructive architecture, it has many reasons behind it. He said that “As an artist, I try to express movement of the body by using architecture” what he said that all of his building has a relationship with body. It’s something like what Le Corbusier said “Architecture must be a thing of the body, a thing of substance as well as the spirit and of the brain” in this sentence, I think that Le Corbusier is trying to say that architecture must have a small linkage with the body, from form to abstraction all these must be connected to the building.

Walt Disney Concert Hall has a weird form but have you ever think how it has been approach in terms of design. What I think is when Frank Gehry has been appointed to build the Walt Disney Concert Hall, he tried to emphasize what is in the concert hall, probably dancing, singing or some magic trick. From my opinion, I think that the building is an abstraction of body movements.

Take for example of dancing, what if you follow the flow of the movement to build something? The form of your building probably will be different from your ordinary geometr forms. What I think that Frank Gehry did was understanding the movement of the body and abstract it out to form an art and there he get the idea of Walt Disney Concert Hall

The second contemporary building is Green house by Tetawowe, the form of the buillding doesn’t have any relation with the body but the space has a significant strong with body since tetawowe is strong in space planning. So I would like to focus on ground floor, if you take a look at the space it is organise in terms of from public to private spaces. What am I trying to express is our body parts could act like the space, from public area to private area, means in building, public space is like farmers market, semi public is dining area and private will probably be the washroom, same as how we see our body parts, the face is expose to other people so it will be the farmers market, the hand is semi expose in terms that sometime it is in the pocket and sometimes it is not like the dining area and sexual organs are the private parts like the washroom where you have to pee privately. This is how I see building and body in this building’s space and not the form of the building.
CONCLUSION
Building and Body is a very strange combination that connects and somehow you can relate them each other depending on where you stand.
