Since Greek antiquity, the human body has been regarded as a microcosm of universal harmony. In this book, an international group of architects, architectural historians, and theorists examines the relation of the human body and architecture.

The relationship between architecture and the human body obviously has a long history. And the questions that arise when exploring this relationship are more than simply about finding the proper dimensions and placements within architectural space to “accommodate” a person and their behaviors within it. This is including a lot of speaking as listed in the 3 of the article that proposed during lecture that is mentioning human body is a proportion to a building. For me, it is depends on different human perspective.

The first contemporary architecture I proposed is Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Texas from Tadao Ando, building itself is expressing the symmetrical and the proportion of human scale that can suit inside perfectly. According to Marcus Vitruvius, architecture have their own symmetrical proportion, and it was by employing them that the fmous painters and sculptors of antiquity attained to great and endless renown.

Walt Disney Concert Hall by Frank Gehry

Walt Disney Concert Hall has a weird form but have you ever think how it has been approach in terms of design. What I think is when Frank Gehry has been appointed to build the Walt Disney Concert Hall, he tried to emphasize what is in the concert hall, probably dancing, singing or some magic trick. From my opinion, I think that the building is an abstraction of body movements.

Dancing movement of body by Jagdish Agarwal

Take for example of dancing, what if you follow the flow of the movement to build something? The form of your building probably will be different from your ordinary geometr forms. What I think that Frank Gehry did was understanding the movement of the body and abstract it out to form an art and there he get the idea of Walt Disney Concert Hall

Modern Art Meseum is basically symmetrical and proportional and is also designed based on human proportion

Second contemporary architecture I propose is container house from tetawowe in Penang, building itself is strongly explain about the proportion of the space that suit for the standard measurement of the human body (anthropometry), since he is well in space planning, his design is come out with a proportion and also using a lot of raw material to grab the first impression of people just like what Marcus Vitruvius said, eye is always in search of beauty and it should be in gratifying human desire for pleasure by a proportionate measure.
