THEORIES OF ARCHITECTURE DESIGN
What is the role of material and immaterial in architecture today?

It is about material and immaterial today. In architecture today, no doubt, we cannot ignore the role of material and
immaterial today. Material, the basic element of an building. Timber, brick, concrete, stone, glass and etc, it is impossible to to build a building without all this. Immaterial, it is required by the society today. People work in every field are working for the best, and so architecture. therefore, by today, a simple architecture without any element of immaterial could not achieve the the ''society need'' toward architecture. People are now looking for the building with soul, with sense and feeling, which cannot to be achieved without the exist of immaterial.

Is materiality and immateriality predominantly about the expression of material properties, the transformation of materials, human perception, or value judgement; some combination of these; or something else?
From my point of view, materiality and immateriality are predominantly about the combinations of expression of materials and human perception. Architecture in the pass has already set the society mindset, building material such as concrete, stone, brick, ect major building material, they will group it into materiality; immateriality is more about sense. for me, visually senses. When people talks about architecture, they normally, predominantly only talks about the out look of it, the aesthetic of it.
Sometimes, somehow, they will be people appreciate about the interesting spaces division of the internal space, but that only for people who entered to the building. For me, Architecture should inspired people in both place, the aesthetic of the exterior and the interesting internal spaces division.
But, for people to find out the interesting part about the internal spaces division and interior design, there more easy to catch people's attention by the aesthetic outlook of the building, because people do not have to enter. Therefore, due to this reason, most of the developer would do the deceive architecture, to make how they want the building to be looked like. And by this, by adding another layer of building material on top of another one, to enhance the building aesthetic, feeling and sensory, for me, this is same as what immateriality is doing. - to just enhance the building aesthetic, feeling and sensory. This is due to different material express different feeling and different value judgement. To build a building look like what they want it to be looked like with the minimal of cost, ornamentation/deceive (adding another layer to enveloping the building) architecture no doubt is their final choice.

Well, today, even atmosphere can be a part of architecture. it define immaterial in another totally different way. Without using a brick or stone, create spaces by using the existence of mist. This has totally do beyond what's current architecture is doing. And this defined the term ''immateriality'' in another brand new and interesting way.

in other words, if fourth text were added to this chapter, what would the argument be about today's architecture in relation to materiality and immateriality?
The term, "immateriality'' has too much of interpretation by everyone. But no matter what it is, it is good for architecture and bring no harm to it. It has the ability to make one building to be more interesting. The beauty of architecture can be express in both 2D or 3D way. Both way express the different beauty of architecture. It has no right or wrong. Materialilty and immateriality should work together to achieve the best architecture. Well, there will be a good challage for us to achieve immateriality by doing materiality.
The forth text of the chapter would be
To achieve immateriality by materiality.
