BODY AND LANDSCAPE
Eric Chen is an architect from Taiwan with ArchiBlur Lab, his beloved team. He is a person that emphasize on history and the human, that leads to his ideal of Body and Landscape.

First, the thing I like about Eric Chen is when he do site survey, he said that he will sit there the whole day and communicate with the people at the site, this may seem very normal to architects but what he is doing here is making a connection to understand the place even better. Understanding the site context could really enhance the architects mindset for the place. Normally, architects that do site survey will be there just like to observe and see but they lack of communication like what Eric Chen and his team did.
PROLOGUE
The topic I like in this talk is when he say how drifting architecture could change the community or enhance the place. There is 9 drifting architecture, so for the first to third drifting architecture are called Urban Floating Island, the first will be the Family Story House, The second is the Art Exhibition Hall and lastly the third will be the Photography Time Machine. Eric Chen said that he try to create this Urban Floating Island with very lightweight construction but with very deep elements like the roof, windows and the walls.
The first is an exhibition with photo of a family and it is a booth for family to take picture. The second drifting architecture is an exhibition of the art of the locals, it creates a feeling of trying to appreciate the art that is created locally.The third is the photography time machine, he said that when we pass through this drifting architecture we will have a feeling of going through time because of the photo he put inside is from old to new.
In my opinion, this 3 architecture serve as a communication route for the public and to enhance the community strength because Eric Chen say that he tries to bring everybody together and he also say that in the past, people communicate a lot to the neighbors but for now this communication is lost, so he is trying to revive the essence of this by creating this drifting architecture.
For the fourth drifting architecture, it is more about reviving the connection between the kids and the temple. He said that with exhibition of the site that the children could move the drifting architecture to station it at the school.
For the fifth and sixth drifting architecture are called the Moving Garden and Voice House, the Moving Garden serve as a lounge area and a place for the people to appreciate the green in between them because Eric Chen say people now are not appreciating as they do last time. So he is creating all these small drifting architecture to bring back what is lost to the people.
The voice house is purely located at a place where it is very quiet that we can just listen to the surrounding.
For the seventh drifting architecture, it is located near the sea, he create 3 landscape drifting architecture that connects the human to the environment. Feeling the wind, the sea and a relaxing space for people.
The eight drifting architecture is a very simple design with greenery on it, it is also a reminder for human to remember the importance of greenery in our lifes.
Lastly, the ninth drifting architecture that situated at Hong Kong, he create this by using very spall and narrow space that he found in most apartment blocks that is very small and narrow as well in Hong Kong.
He spend a year in this projects that is 2016, what I like about Eric Chen that he does not want to stand out in most architects way that is building a very outstanding architecture but he created small and simple architecture that respects the site and also remind the human about the history. The small but meaningful architecture although does not stands out but it have a lot of essence in it. That is how he connect the body and landscape while body is the human and landscape is the environment and the site.
