THEORIES OF ARCHITECTURE DESIGN
Materiality in architecture is the concept of, or applied use of, various materials or substances in the medium of building. It is focus on function and also the refer to the site context as well.
Material is a relative term in architectural design and so may be used to designate materials which are considered to be virtual, or other materials which are natural. Therefore, what separates a virtual material from a natural one is some aspect of the mind and perception as well as a process of representation to produce them.
Indeed, materiality in architecture is not limited to theoretical positions on the perceived materiality of images, texts, or other objects of representation. It may refer to the materiality of specific projects, where one would need to consider the full range of materials used. Discussions on the materiality of architecture are usually synonymous with structural and aesthetic concerns in architectural design and are typically unique with each project. For example, mostly of the Malay houses are located in green environment and it’s material is the most easiest obtained at the respectively site.

But what is immaterial? “The user decides whether architecture is immaterial. But the architect, or any other architectural producer creates material conditions in which But what does immaterial architecture mean, and can we separate the immaterial from the that decision can be made? In my opinion, immaterial is comes from the point of view of people, different people has the different perception about it. We conceptualize the idea into the building design while manipulating materials to achieve spatial senses. For example, Coonley house and falling water are the design of Frank lloyd Wright that suit the title of immateriality. It is build with concrete that connect to the river site and it shows the connection of the building design that linked to the site.

In conclusion, if the fourth text is added, it would be the combination of materiality and immateriality to the nature. It is focusing in the appearance of the building and also the physical feeling of human perspective. For me, design is about feeling and it should have it own soul. Building design can only be expressed by these aspect through human sense and visual satisfication.
